This is shaping up to be the greatest comic viewing site of all time, for a very limited audience
(account needed and I'm only handing them out manually to personal friends).
Why? Cause I don't want to waste too much bandwidth here on visitors I don't even know
and you're not really supporting the authors by not viewing their banners and rants containing
subtle reminders to buy their merchandise or donate and stuff.
Personally, I buy t-shirts, so I feel justified in coding this ;)
Project goals (almost all of them are currently met):
- this site is an experiment to test various techniques to improve useability
- XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS compliant
- works in most (all?) Mozilla browsers (IE and Opera partially implemented)
- almost all site functions are accessible with keyboard shortcuts
- URL in locationbar is always copypasteable to other users and shows the same content
- various ECMAScript techniques, for example:
- preload images to reduce loading time
- reformat the document for your window size
- save changes in a html form even if you are leaving the page
- site remembers as much preferences as possible:
- what comic you were reading at your last visit
- what image you were viewing the last time you read a specific comic
- what comics you want or don't want to view (not implemented yet)
- your favourite images in a specific comic (incomplete implementation)
- you can catch up on all unread comics by only pressing the spacebar, enter or clicking an image to go to the next entry, next comic, or even scroll horizontally and vertically if the images are too large for your window size
